Spar UK launches Wine Club for its retailers - Drinks Retailing News

Spar UK has launched an incentive-driven wine club for its retailers with the aim of raising the quality credentials of its Spar wine range.

The Spar Wine Club is also designed to build sales in the wider wine category and share best practice among retailers.

The club offers a raft of benefits including the opportunity to travel the world on an all-expenses paid, incentive-driven trip to vineyards across the globe.

Other benefits include specialist wine education and training, exclusive invitations to consumer and trade wine shows and benchmarking with Spar’s Master of Wine, Philippa Carr.

They will also receive bespoke in-store POS, access to an exclusive portal on the Spar website and also dedicated WhatsApp and Facebook groups and a monthly newsletter.

Philippa Carr MW said: "I am thrilled to be able to support Spar's Wine Club. This is a fantastic opportunity for independent Spar retailers who are serious about increasing their wine sales.

"Our retailers involved will support the range, commit to national promotions and take part in all our activities. To have so many passionate retailers from Cornwall to Inverness supporting the growth of Spar brand wines is something we are really proud of."

Barbara Clements, owner of Spar Preston in Dorset said: "I'm thrilled Spar has started a Wine Club exclusively for retailers. Our first get-together was so much fun. We are all looking forward to learning more about the Spar brand range of wines, growing our sales and having a lot of fun along the way!"

Spar hosted a launch event for the Wine Club in Manchester where selected independent Spar retailers gathered to kick off the initiative.

These retailers were chosen to stock the core range and take part in the club’s activities.

There are currently 30 members in the Spar Wine Club and it will open for new membership applications in 2020.
